Neda Kovinić is a Yugoslavian-born, Serbia-raised, and Berlin-based research artist whose practice spans visual arts, dance, and film.

Neda Kovinić pursued her PhD in performance and documentary installations, at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. Her PhD project, "Behind Enthusiasm," explored the role of enthusiasm as a driving force in artistic creation, collaboration, and self-organization, particularly in contexts lacking institutional and production support. The research critically examined how enthusiasm, which is often taken for granted, is appropriated by capitalist structures, while also investigating how networking and micro-communities in art can transform and resist the commodification of creative labor.

In her works Kovinic continuously questions how body politics, social relations, power structures and ecology are inscribed into bodies and how this in turn shapes body movements in space. Her art reflects on contemporary challenges such as the climate crisis, geopolitical tensions, and a permanent war.
Kovinic's collaborative, process-oriented approach involves participatory performances that bring together artists from diverse backgrounds. Central to her work are principles of fair practices, emphasising care, empathy, and closeness.

Kovinic is an alumni of the Akademie Schloss Solitude (2022-23).

Her artworks have been featured in: The European Pavilion 2024 / Liquied Becomings; Vorspiel / Transmediale / ctm Berlin 2024.; 37. Stuttgarter Filmwinter, Germany, 2024; Heidelberger Kunstverein, Germany 2023; Manifesta 14 Prishtina, Kosovo, 2022; Artists's Film International at Whitechapel Gallery London, UK, 2021; Hammer Museum UCLA USA, 2021; Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Berlin, Germany, 2022. etc.

The residency is organised in the frame of Akademie Schloss Solitude's Eastern European Network residency exchange program.
