Michal Novotný is director of Centre for contemporary art FUTURA in Prague and independent curator and writer. Since 2016 he is also part of the strategic conception team at PLATO Ostrava. Recent curatorial research projects and residencies include Delfina Foundation, London (2016); Stroom Den Haag, Haag (2015); Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans (2014); Contemporary Art Museum, Rijeka (2014); Villa Arson, Nice (2013). Among his recent exhibition projects at FUTURA counts Harun Farocki/ Zbyněk Baladrán (2015), Than Hussein Clark: Debts (Erotic Review Sinai) (2015) or On Trees and Things exhibition of Roee Rosen and Pavel Sterec (2014). Recent exhibitions at Plato Ostrava: Preliminary portrait of a Young-Girl (2017, in collaboration with Linda and Daniela Dostalkova) and Klub Fiesta (2017, in collaboration with Lumir Nykl) In 2015 he initiated a cooperation with Czech Centers resulting in collective exhibitions Typografie (Czech Center Rotterdam) and Liturgie (Czech Center Paris) accenting the specific architecture of those cultural institutions and expanding the notion of scenographic arrangement of works. Regular contributor to Flash Art, Art&Antiques, Artalk, Atelier, Labyrint and Fotograf magazines. AICA member since 2013. He initiated and is a jury member of VARP NY - Visegrad Artist in Residency residency program in New York.
